Albania (in Albanian: Shqipëri or Shqipëria), officially the Republic of Albania (in Albanian: Republika e Shqipërisë), is a country located in southeastern Europe. It borders Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south and southeast.
In Albania we find a variety of temperate climates. In the coastal areas of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas there is a Mediterranean climate. The majority mountainous areas in the country have a continental climate with lower temperatures and abundant rainfall. The low temperatures that occur in the interior of Albania are caused by the continental air mass that dominates all of Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
It is a country with heavy rainfall due to the convergence of the air current from the Mediterranean Sea and the continental air mass. The average rainfall in the country is 1,430 mm. Being the precipitations in the coastal areas of 800 mm and in the mountainous areas of up to 2,000 mm.
